I'll see what I can do with the dates and changing the tz. We actually have
templates that we can change that generate a good chunk of our
communications code so handling dates from the server may not be too
difficult. The problem would be every where in Flex we create a new date.
I'll look into this as an option as we could simply make a call to the
server at app load time to ask what timezone the server is using and go from
there.

Certainly not optimal, but better than changing everything to Strings.

For the Blaze + Hibernate stuff, ask me at the next AFFUG meeting. Was not
horrible, but Granite certainly added a couple very nice things that Blaze
was lacking. But to be honest, that was Blaze as of 2 years ago.

Thanks,

Dale

Subject: Re: [AFFUG Discuss] Dates and Timezones

dates, dates, dates...oh joy! Flash automatically adds TZ info to all new
Dates, including the ones coming in from server. You can play the massage
the date game for incoming and outgoing dates since you know the TZ offest.
Another way, just deliver strings. :)

odd to hear about the Blaze and Hibernate issues, our backend folks have
used that and Spring even with Blaze.

Is it possible for you to store the time as gmt and an indicator of what

I'm 85% sure we tried that, but truthfully we have done so many things I
can't remember that actual test. I'm 100% sure we spoke about it, just
can't remember the actual trying of it.

So, I'll certainly try it again and let you know.
