As you have stated, the Board list is closed so most people, myself included, have no idea of the discussions that took place. You may have a had a more favourable reaction if you had made your decision public. I am sure that there would have been many people such as myself who may have contributed to a wider discussion had there been one, and that may have in turn changed things. As pointed out in the link that Gordon sent "To Fork or Not To Fork" : "The most substantial bright side to these drawbacks is that the problems associated with forking are so severe and notorious that, in most cases, the threat of a fork is enough to force maintainers to work out solutions that keep the fork from happening in the first place." I understand the commercial pressures involved in your decision (we all have to eat), but again, perhaps it would have been better to have made them known first. Personally I cannot see any benefit to two distributions. As rightly pointed out, one will most likely die, and I have no desire to see that happen. At the minute it would appear that the coding you have done is too deep to go back, so the question for one and all is how do we go forward ? B.
