Further to the post "NethServer: something new to play with" in the development list, it seems appropriate that there should really be some discussion on the future of SME/Contribs.
This is thread to try and kickstart that discussion. Personally I would love to see contribs developed further but I'm not sure reinventing the wheel is the right way forward. I guess that I really wish that Filippo had thrown his resources behind the current project. Clearly there doesn't seem to to be much 'push' for anything beyond V8 at the minute, and even that took every last gasp to do. As many have pointed out, CENTOS 5 is long in the tooth, and I can't see that the current developers have the time, money or commitment for a V9. Without further development the distro will die where it stands now. So where does that leave the distro, and what does the future hold ? Perhaps some of the 'Governors' of SME/Contribs could make themselves known, and give their thoughts on matters ? B.
