It helps to know what our users want..... so thank you for asking
questions and commenting.

No, bugzilla isn't the friendliest system to use, but with some practice
it does get easier.

First thing is you will learn more if you read more. When I started here
I knew nothing, and still feel that I don't know that much more, but I
have learned a lot. If you are interested I believe you can subscribe to
the bugteam so you receive a report on all the bugs as they come along
(Daniel can advise)

The 'easiest' thing is to read bugs as they develop. You may not
understand much to start with, but you will as you go along and follow
them... that is key, seeing from start to finish to understand the process.

Having a test system helps ENORMOUSLY. Using systems such as Proxmox for
virtualisation you can rinse and repeat very quickly and easily.

Old box, couple of drives, Proxmox and you have a test system. Base
install of v8 and v9, snapshot it, update it, snapshot it, have a play !

See if you can reproduce any of the bugs here :

https://wiki.contribs.org/Triage_Queue

See if you can verify anything here :

https://wiki.contribs.org/Verification_Queue

https://wiki.contribs.org/SME_Server:Documentation:QA:Verification

You need to read the bug, try and understand the issues, and replicate
them. You don't need to fix anything. Just some patience and be methodical.

These two parts are absolutely vital in bug processing.

We need to help you to understand the process and make a contribution.
If it is confusing or difficult then please don't give up - ask !
