I'd probably be interested in accelerating image processing tasks; the
higher-resolution sensors would probably offer a greater variety of
interesting problems to work on and stress potential solutions a bit
more.  Or so has been my experience so far.  (See auricle.dyndns.org/ALE
for what I've worked on so far; acceleration will probably be more
important for speeding up testing of the code on higher-resolution
images.)

Ethernet seemed the most sensible fall-back.  Obviously, it would be
nice to get sensor data directly; is the optional second sensor planned
to be of the same type as the primary sensor, or will there be more
options available?
