Thus since the basic idea has gotten a positive response and there is already an initial implementation, I wouldn't be surprised to see the form_for_* changes become a pre-req to getting newforms-admin finished, which would turn them into a show-stopper for 1.0. This is just my impression, though, Joseph might very well have a different view.
On the issue of what to call 1.0, I like Max Battcher's idea of adopting an Ubuntu-like date-based version. Puts some useful information (how old is it?) into the release name and avoids preconceived notions of stability/completeness associated with .0 releases.
