I've spent a lot of time on #8138 and would be interested in more feedback from people with tests beyond the Django testsuite on the last patch I posted there (8138alternate-nodoctestxaction.diff). I've got one big unresolved question that I intend to solicit feedback from this list on today, once I get a chance to write it up.
