Thanks for pointing that out! I've closed #18094 as a duplicate of #9318, as they really are addressing the same issue. #9318 is currently taking the approach I'd dismissed as "not a realistic option" of fixing the signals framework itself to be smart about sender subclasses. It may be that I dismissed that option too quickly. Carl
