oh, for crying out loud.
dame edna is a FICTIONAL character. she's actually a man in drag.
if you're not familiar with her material, she does tend to say some stuff
that is off-color.
she's meant to play a whacky old lady. she spouts nonsense like that.
it's a S A T I R I C A L piece.
i'm sure everyone has a right to be offended, but does that mean that it
justifies the right to
suppress the freedom of the press ?
vanity fair's editors chose what they do and do not publish.
you choose to read or not to read.
it's simple as that.

there are plenty of neo-nazi web pages on there. some, i'm sure, of worse
content than
what was published in vanity fair. does that mean that we should actively
go and harass
their ISPs to take down their pages ? no, of course not ! because that's
freedom of the
press, freedom of the speech. take it away, and you're left with
dictatorial governments like
china.

you may not agree with what is written, that's fine. write a letter; that
is your right to do so,
just as it is their right to choose to read it. but boycotting ? that's a
bit fanatical, imho.

what happened to all those asians who were 'boycotting' abercrombie and
fitch for those
slurring t-shirts ? i still see them shopping in hordes.

and, honestly, i think political correctness has gone WAY overboard lately.
it's a little one-
sided and ppl have way too many branches up their arses. i guess it's the
drama du jour.

-nat 'i'm not boycotting vanity fair because, hell, i don't read it anyways'
