question: is racism/sexism/classism perpetuated through satire and sarcasm,
or is it merely comic relief?
theoretical situation: what if your parents were disgusted by the thought of
inter-racial dating and your partner happened to be of a different race than
your own. would you be ok if your parents trash talk your partner if they
get a screen name, create a fictional character, call it satire, and print
it in a magazine? why do we make "isms" ok on some levels?
i don't think anyone's trying to suggest that we suppress the freedom of the
press. that article did offend people and i don't think we should expect
them to just shut up and take it. and why not boycott? just because people
couldn't stop buying abercrombie doesn't mean we should throw our hands in
the air and say it's hopeless. i suppose you think rosa parks was a fanatic
then, huh?
gotta remind myself to breathe sometimes------------>rose:p
