What study asserts that for email? You wouldn't take my word for it if I said that. But of course I wouldn't make a categorical statement without empirical evidence.

You really should read the paper. It's quite clever what they did, and provides a lot of interesting information to consider. It was very interesting to see what was happening in the wild instead of the conjecture that informs most of what goes on. They apparently have a follow on study they're working on.
