True, but SMTP and the body From are unrelated.

At the SMTP level, mailing lists have quite commonly and unremarkably used a 
Mail From for the list.  That's why SPF doesn't have a "mailing list problem".

If mailing lists were merely a conduit for computer generated content, 
approximately no one would read them.
