Hi Rohan,
VLC can be evoked from terminal but can't be run in terminal mode. In
terminal mode(from terminal, vlc <inputvideoname>), it turns video to ASCII
art (see this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PWl2l7RyXHU). However, it is
unable to render any audio. I am unsure whether VLC can pass audio while
being invoked through terminal.
You can try to recreate my problem by checkpointing a video file through
VLC.
