I was afraid that would be the answer :)
Compression is one of those things I just don't seem to get the hang off, or beter, 
understand exactly what it does.
With most things you don't really have to understand, just twist some knobs and you 
hear 
what it does.  Compression on the other hand isn't one of those effects.

I guess I'll finally have to divein some online tutorials and start "practicing" on 
that 
bassline to see if I can get it to still sound the same, but without the clipping.

and btw, Fruity does support plugins, so I'll be able to but the compressor plugin on 
the 
bass alone
