since you are using partition magic, you should also use bootmagic. what you want to do is create two primary partitions. a harddrive can only have one active primary partition at a time, so the boot magic is what sets the partition active at start. the active partition is what will show up as your windows "c:" drive. i think you can have up to 3 or 4 primary partitions on one drive, so you can boot up up to 4 different os's. keep in mind that when a primary partition is set innactive it is invisible to the os so you loose that entire space on the drive.

if you want to share data between the two different os's you are  creating, create an extended partition with a logical partition inside it. this partition will be visible to all the os's (as long as it is formatted in a supported file system). so if you create a logical partition formatted in fat32, it will be visible to both windows boots, or a win98 boot of you choose to do so, as the "d:" drive. you can even view it in a linux boot if you mount it correctly.

i've done this stuff a million times, so if you have questions email me private, i'll be happy to help.

What's the best way of having a dual boot W2k system..?
The W2k version I have requires a previous version of Windows to be already installed - i.e. it won't install from the DOS prompt...
I'll be using PM6...
