Holy crud yes there is a risk of wrecking your equipment if you get one bad
power surge/pop that gets through your lineconditioner and has no where to
go (b/c ground is absent) but out through your gear (it's worse if you only
use surgeprotectors, -everything- in our studio runs off lineconditioned
ups'd power, (IT guy talking here))....never have computers or anything like
like that ungrounded....it'll work fine, but it's only a matter of time
before your rig gets popped...

maybe try to find a socket in another room and use an extension cord?
