It depends where you got the sounds from really. If you were miking up a kit or had individual hits/raw sounds you would generally compress these individually. However, if you are sampling off tracks or loops, the sounds will have been compressed already. Things like distortion will also add elements of compression. Saying that though, I'd still generally compress the sound unless it really didn't need it....
