For individual drum hits, I would suggest EQing and Compression each hit
individually. I nearly always keep my drums mono as well, dunno why, they
just sound better that way. I think its fair to say that keeping bass mono
is a fairly good rule of thumb, I remeber a discussion on here not so long
ago about the problems that bass stereo basses can cause when pressed to
vinyl (or was that just stereo EFFECTS on bass, can't remember, memory shot
to pieces by years of skunk abuse, I'm afraid). There was also, a very
handy quide to EQ frequencies, which someone might be kind enough to repost
for you (maybe we should put a FAQ together, peeps? or does one exist
already?) Try and keep your kicks and bass from occupying the sam efrequency
range as well.

As for good bass sounds, again, YouDirtyRat posted a very handy guide
(another one for a FAQ, perhaps?) a little while ago, which u might be
interested in...and theres loads of info on the subject over at
www.spinwarp.com.

Good Luck, anyways...
