i don't use reason, so i wish i could give you a definite answer, but the
theory behind it is if you're either "converting" to 44.1kHz or just
"readjusting" to 44.1.  the first would mean that everything will sound as
it did in 96, but at a lower sampling rate, and the second is that you're
playing the 96kHz-sampled audio at 44.1... half its speed.  so i guess
that's your answer, see if you can "convert" rather than just "replay at
44.1".

I'm trying to figure out how sample rates and such
work.  To make things easiest, I'm working in Reason.
When I change my sample rate in the audio preferences
to 96k, the metronome goes at less than 1/2 the speed
it should, and is pitched down.  Both by the ratio of
44.1khz to 96khz.  I don't understand this.  Is there
no way to make it work?  I've experienced similar
problems in cubase, nuendo, logic, etc.  I don't get
this whole sample rate thing.
