Yea tweak different compression for different snares, You set the threshold to be below the lowest db point of the snare sample, you set the attack to be quick, the release to be slow, and fool around with the ratio & adjust the output so that it bounces just below the peak level (of course you have to compensate output level to whats going on in the rest of the tune).. you can be generous with it since it's on one sound only and not a final mixdown.
