I'm not slagging it, it's just been so dominant for so long that I got tired of it. trust me though, I love my tech shit - there's just a time and a place for everything and variety allows me to express myself a lot more when i'm spinning. creating moods and whatnot, and creating a logical progression of mood changes.
the tech shit is good for a certain part of that spectrum of moods. but i like to take mental and emotional journeys when i listen to music. any one subgenre just keeps me in one place, and for me the whole "escaping" aspect of music IS that journey. so naturally a degree of eclecticism is essential for me to enjoy it to the fullest. again, not knocking it, just expressing my opinion. tbh I like some of the locals more than international talent because of the varied selections. tech is tight but drum and bass is such an interesting and diverse genre that it seems silly (at least for me) to stick to one little niche. :) > So I agree with what u say about being much more varied, but I don't agree > with anyone slagging tech-step - why do people always have to slag things? > So what if it gets played a lot, it gets people dancing every time.
