yeah to an extent that's right. but remember one thing:

good gear will not make you sound good.
but bad gear will DEFINITELY make you sound bad.

;)

standards change with the technology and methods available - if gear is crap
enough, it will affect your output. a lot. (i.e. - shit computers, seriously
awful sequencing programs, cheap-as-fuck junkyard hardware)

being inventive can only go so far if you got a worthless rig.
