Hi Malcom.
Currently a full newsfeed is pushing 250 gigs per day. By the end of
the summer the projection is that it will be at or near 500 gigs per
day. You can check daily stats here:

Obviously one feed is not going to cut it with this amount of
traffic. You need at least 10 or more full feeds to get good
completion. On top of that you will need a 20 to 30 mb pipe to handle
the constant stream.
You may want to consider setting up a separate feed server to handle
the feeds and then send that to your reader box via a cross over
cable (NIC to NIC).
Once you get enough feeds coming in you should be running SCSI 160
with 10,000 rpm drives. You need to make sure that your Disk I/O can
handle the amount of traffic coming in. There are a few more
configuration changes you can do as well, once you get enough feeds
coming in.
