The company I work for had a cracker attack some days ago, making them
to reinstall everything from backups. They installed dnews 5.5b3 for
Linux, recover the /usr/local/dnews and /var/spool/news and
/etc/dnews.conf from the backup. Finally, they reinstalled the key.
However soon we discovered a lot of news lost, because Dnews cut the
spool (about 4g) to 2g. I believe this has something to do with the 2g
limit in the demo version. Is there any way they could have prevented
this?. TIA.
