the "not-invented-here" syndrome is well present in ICT multinationals
especially in the US. I suspect its the result of a competitive
mindset, the remnants of a patent based economy and the need to fill
in timesheets for office work. the fact there are young people hurling
fists and wanting to prove themselves may be just the cherry on top.

but I'm happy to stand corrected and would really like to read more
about the topic, perhaps even academic publications that explore the
"innovation" concepts in practical outcomes and with a critical
mindset.
