Your last statement is not 100% true. We already have DHCPv6 as an RFC.
The DHCPv6-lite is fundamentally a collection of hints to create a simplified
implementation. So, there is already a standardized solution.
Now, the RA or well known address proponents claim this is not enough,
but apparently failed to gather momentum to demonstrate that a 2nd approach
is required.
IMHO the working group should then draw the conclusion that there is no consensus
to standardize neither the RA nor well known addresses solution and stick with
DHCPv6-lite as _the_ standardized solution, and I agree with you that anybody is free
to implement whatever ad-hoc solution he wants in his own backyard.
