I'm not sure what you mean. This is a manual process.

Software could suggest an ending time to an administrator, and even use
exponential back-off, but I don't think such an algorithm would be
especially helpful. Probably we want more human-oriented suggestions
like "3 days" or "2 weeks" rather than "1d 12:24:32.0".
