I think this is the essence of why previous attempts to automate
technical DNS maintenance were unsuccessful.
I actually think it's the ICANN-style translation of the RRR model
that is wrong and why we don't go forward.

Registrars were invented to distribute administrative load for the
registry, and create competition in financial and customer care.

Because we started to use that same channel for the technical
bootstrapping of a delegation by the absence of a technical channel to
do so, ICANN has translated that into it's agreement as not only
bootstrapping, but also maintenance of technical data.

It is my firm believe that a registrar's role is administrative, and
after the sale is done, the registrant controls the technical data.
I can see that registrars are happy with the ICANN mistake because
they can now control their customers by allowing or disallowing
transfer of technical data, but it breaks the technical DNS model if
registrars do this based on business rules rather than that it
technically has to work parent to child. But registrars couldn't care
less, as they are not responsible for any part of the technical
infrastructure. It's about power and money, not correctness.

Since I'm not a lawyer, nor have lot's of money or trademarks or both,
it's almost impossible to bring this to the ICANN agenda, and we are
all hostage of this situation.
