I'm still +1 for allan's mock-up of the search box. It seemed the right
size, so it fit with the other boxes on the left side, and the wording was
very clear, where someone might need to think about what the images mean.
I also find the amount of white space pleasing to look at.
I also think it's great to be able to select how to search, and have that
the same on every page -- it lets me do a wider search if needed. Kind of
like a free-form hyper link ("what else can I read about "foo" on the
mod_perl site?").
Can we try Allan's design and then trim or replace with images it if needed?
It may be that I like Allan's design most just because I've seen it.
