I think the actual question was about whether there was a was to
automate taking screenshots from, say, a German UI to replace
screenshots from the English UI when translating or localizing the
documentation.

If I am correct in my interpretation of the question, then as far as I
know, there isn't any way to do it other than manually. Of course, it
would be possible to use linked graphics instead of embedded graphics
to perhaps make it easier for translators to replace one set of
screenshots with another -- once those screenshots had been prepared.
