This past Friday I experienced my very first automobile accident- and
I was cited and considered at fault. I pulled out into on coming
traffic (only after coming to a complete stop, mind you) and, as they
say, out of no where this little red-headed 17-year-old girl driving
a white Mazda plows into my Intrepid going about 40 mph and
completely tore off my front bumper damaging the hood, and both front
quarter panels sending debris flying everywhere. She really seemed to
come out of no where- I didn't even see her!Gratefully there were no
injuries at all and I can't quite get it figured out how to download
pictures to send. But today (Monday) the car was removed from the tow
yard and taken to a collision shop so my State Farm Insurance
adjuster can determine whether the damage is repairable or if it'll
be considered totalled (which I doubt). The car was, indeed,
drivable. I just didn't have any power available to my power
steering. Anyway, it's said that if they repair my Intrepid that I'll
be without her for about 10 days. I'll keep everyone posted on the
outcome and progress. Like I said, I'm 42 years old and I've never
been in a car accident before in my life and have never had to file a
claim with my Insurance company so this whole event is a whole
new "ball of wax" for me!
