Well, the upper intake has to come off, and there's a bunch of hoses,
the throttle cables, some electrical connections, etc.  The valve
covers themselves are located under the wiring harness for the fuel
injectors, so that will have to be carefully loosened and set aside
too.

I've done the steps to do this before myself, and I think that if I
worked methodically and quickly, had all the tools ready to go, and
had really good luck, probably 3-3.5 hours of work, using air tools
where possible.  I'm a relatively slow wrench, since I don't do it
everyday.  Of course, if you run into fastener trouble (corrosion,
etc.) or have to go more slowly, it could go longer.

Important: You'll want to use a torque wrench on the upper intake
bolts and follow the pattern for torquing them down prescribed in the
factory shop manual.  Not sure off the top of my head, but the spec
*might* be in inch-pounds.
