I had a Trans Am that would smoke (sometimes) after a long 'fast' drive. Oil gets past the rings, the oil ring seal is not 'ideal' and the engine starts burning oil with the loss in performance. Newer cars are still 'tight' with closer specs and tolerances, but as they wear, a higher viscosity makes up for the slight increase in engine wear, in the bearing and piston rings. Your mileage loss is amazing but possible. Does it smoke too at when the oil gets really hot with the 5-30 lower viscosity oil? ------------------------ Yahoo!
