Thanks to all for giving some input regarding the remote starter for my 2004 SXT. I went ahead and had it installed and had the people over at Circuit City do it. They assured me the work would, indeed, be guaranteed and that it would in no way affect my warranties that I've got in place with DaimlerChrysler.
The remote control fob replaces the one issued and it's taking a little getting used to. The original fob has a separate "lock" and "unlock" button where as the replacement fob has only one. I have the timer set to run 12 minutes, which here in the south, is just enough time to warm or cool the interior of the car before entry. To save the add'l $150 I opted not to have a security system installed because as it is when auto alarms are activated it's really more of a nusiance. The Intrepid (according to Insurance statistics) isn't considered a high-risk vehicle so I didn't feel it was necessary. Two issues I had to sacrifice upon installation: when the remote start is activated the interior lights no longer remain "on" until the key is inserted into the ignition as they used to. Now upon closing the door the lights fade off immediately. Secondly, when securing and leaving the vehicle the horn no longer emits an audible "chirp." However, the lights still "flash" giving visible notice of security. Truly no great loss considering I'll now be instantly warmed or cooled upon entering my car. Anyway, thanks again for the comments and letting me ramble. Just love the car. This is my second go around with the 2nd generation Intrepid. My first Intrepid was a '99 Platinum Mist Metallic 2.7L base. This one's a 04' Stone White 3.5L H.O. SXT. And boy, what a difference. AtlantaIntrepid ------------------------ Yahoo!
