My across-the-street neighbor is a retired GM engineer. He has had 4 3.8Lengines in the time I've known him. Two of them blew up rather spectacularly. These were later-model engines, from the late 90s, I believe they were Series II engines (might be wrong about that part.) The oldest one, a 1989 model Series I 3.8L, is pretty bulletproof.
I would say, based on my very limited experience with the 3.8L that it is generally a good engine, but certainly no better than the 3.2/3.3/3.5L engines. It may well be more "reliable" than the 2.7L. Given a choice between a 3.8L and a 2.7L, I would still choose the 2.7L and make sure I maintained the heck out of it. --Geoff On 10/10/06, parker <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > The 3.8 Bonneville is almost as fast as the Intepid...what do you think > about reabilty vs the Intrepid? > Web: <http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dodge_intrepid> Subscribe: <mailto://[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Unsubscribe: <mailto://[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Moderator: <mailto://[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Yahoo!
