Makes sense. I've noticed that the headlights I've always polished up do not last long and require periodic re-buffing. I did hand-buff my 1st gen lights yesterday, and they look really nice, at least for now. At work, (eyeglass finishing lab) I have some UV coating stuff that we dip CR-39 lenses into which blocks out UV light and supposively provides a scratch resistance, too. I wonder if I swipe a couple bottles of it and pour it into a large enough metal container to heat up on the stove, and dip the lens portion of the headlight into it for a coating. HMMMMMMM.
