No, it is NOT harmful to change brands of oil OR
filter. Your dog may prefer one brand of food, but
your car is a machine. Engines don't "get used to" oil
or gas brands.

This sensor problem is an easy one to fix, and not
expensive, as engine problems go. It is fairly
commonplace. Bank 1 indicates which side of your
engine it's on.

I had this problem three times, on three different
sensors, on a Dodge Dakota V6, but I never thought I
could do it myself. Maybe you could, but my guess is
it's better to let a good mechanic do it. This is a
common problem which most mechanics have done hundreds
of times. Take it to a dealer only if you think you
must. I wouldn't.

My guess is $100 to $200. Maybe less.
