Are you sure it isn't the inner tie rod bushings?

I've replaced these on my Trep before.   Not terribly easy, but possible 
for an armchair mechanic like myself, and tutorials such as these are 
terribly handy:

Your problem MIGHT be the tie rod ends, so I'm not saying it isn't, but 
this above is a VERY common problem with steering slop.
