I have an Eagle Vision TSI with the 3.5 V-6 engine in which has about 94000
miles on. The car runs fine, but, for the past year my "Check Engine" light has
been on.So, using the built in "key on/key off" method, I came up with the
following codes:
12 - Battery has been disconnected
35 - Open or shorted condition detected in the control circuit of the low/high
speed radiator fan.
51- Lean air/fuel mixture has been indicated by an abnormally rich correction
factor.
51- Lean air/fuel mixture has been indicated by an abnormally rich correction
factor
When I had the OSD2 hooked up to a reader, it reported the following codes:
P0731A Gear 1 Incorrect Ratio
P0736 Reverse Incorrect Ratio
P1784 Manufacture Controlled Transmission
P490 Manufacture Controlled Auxiliary Emission Control
P0171B Bank 1 System too lean
P0174B Bank 2 System too Lean
P0125B Insufficience Coolant Temperature for Close Loop.
In reading this group I came across a post with a problem similar (especially
code 51) to what I have. I would like your thought on it.
My big question is, since I live in New York that inspects 96 and newer cars
via a computer, do any of these codes is a cause to fail inspection?
The economic downturn hit me early (unemployed 11 months) and I can¢t afford
massive repairs (I have replaced the air and fuel filters, but, I had no
tune-up in 5 years). So, I am avoiding the inspection, but, since the color of
the sticker changes for 2009 that become very hard.
If these problems are inspection failures, what is the fix? In reading the post
on these problems, a possible answer was that coolant was leaking into the
engine. Which, in my case, can be correct since I lose coolant and it never on
the ground under the car.
My service center thinks that the engine¢s heads warp causing the coolant to
enter the engine. However, to make sure they would have to remove the head. A
very pricey move and not guaranteed to find, or even fix, the problem.
I would be grateful for any insights.
Thank You
