Owners and owners-to-be of the Intrepid.thanks ill give that a try,  id like to 
finally get this issue resolved without having to take it in and being charged 
a buttload... And so far  you guys have been right on with the problems ive had 
with the car so far... glad i found the group LOL its been a big help over the 
years

Yep, there's a vacuum leak. I would guess (take it for what it's worth)
that the intake plenum has a leak somewhere around the surface where it
mates to the lower intake. The reason why it runs faster after it warms up
is because something is expanding due to the engine's heat and opening up a
gap. Get yourself a fresh bottle of propane and a regular blowtorch. While
the engine is running (after it has warmed up and is idling fast) pass the
*UNLIT* blowtorch (valve wide open) closely over all areas in the engine
compartment related to fuel delivery. If you're lucky, the propane will
get sucked into the engine when you pass the torch over the area of the
leak, and there will be an audible change in engine RPM. (It may go higher
or lower briefly, then settle, but it should be repeatable.) With luck,
it's just a bad plenum gasket and not a crack in the plastic plenum itself.
Another possibility would be the throttle body mounting gasket.
