I purchased 1993 Intrepid with a 3.3l engine 3 weeks ago. I topped it off and put 110 miles on it over the next couple of days. At that point the gauge registered half a tank. I topped it off with 5.8 gallons. I then put 225 mile on that tank and the low fuel gauge came on. I assumed that the gauge or sending unit were bad since I had previously gotten 20+ gallons/mile. But I ended up putting 15 gallons in the tank. So my theory of a bad gauge/sending unit seemed to be wrong. I put new plugs and wires in it, as well as an air filter. I usually run the engine for 10 minutes prior to leaving for work in the mornings, and then take a ten mile drive to work. So I know that mileage is not going to be as good. I've been transferred to a different facility, so I'll have a 20+ mile drive each way. I've been told that this engine should get 20+mpg. Has anyone ever encountered a leak in a return line? The engine runs fine, so I don't believe that I have one in the pressure line. I do get a shudder in the front end occasionally, but I believe that is due to a problem in the front end. Can anyone help?
