Considering my previous post I point out that if you look at the whole project
instead of as a series of small projects you would never tackle such a job. I
can say this from experience of many large projects of different types in the
past.
Commitment to complete all those smaller projects is the key.

Tom in the States sent me an email "off list" saying he thought the TE probe
was bent.
Good point Tom (he got my gist).
I didn't pick that.
I should have lowered my bid accordingly.
Cheers.
Nige.

You really need to see the HK 36 first hand It is BAD!!!. I have had several
long talks (like best part of an hour) to Gary the pilot and there about 10
points which all contributed and several are the systems of the aircraft which
were not understood. Just one is understanding a Bing carb in that the choke is
not a choke but an enrichening device and inorder for it to start you must have
no throttle. Could go on with arming for unfeathering prop and the use of soft
start button and why it is there. There are many other flying factors also.

Gary was in hospital at the time of report going in.

Later I might write a general article so as we may prevent more such
insurance claims and accidents. You can not assume the average pilot
understands the system of his aircraft. In the days when I had a power licence
when doing a biannual I had the instructor give me an engineering test on a
C172 because I had never flown one before. I found it a waste of time for me
as all I wanted to fly was a Pawnee of Supercub but something like that would
be useful for Cub or Pawnee.and going further it would be good for various
motorgliders.

Gather Tom the other person in crash is not walking.

Enc is a link to a very good article re fuels Avgas, prem mogas and alcohol
in fuels. There are good tips to be aware of when using 98 etc mogas
  http://www.jabiru.net.au/Service%20Bulletins/Engine%20files/JSL007-3.pdf

Also for those using Bing carb in hk36 there is good info in Jabiru engine
manual and JSB18-2 on how the bing works. I found it interesting.

While going on HK36 Rotax found the water hose bore 19mm can have a cover of
1" SCAT hose over water hose in the area near the rear engine pipes. This not
only protects the rubber hose from heat (or cracked engine pipe and hot gases).
the spring prevents any thought of the hose kinking. A LAME suggested this one
as he say in on a RAAus aircraft.(the tip of SCAT wire was bent out and back on
itself. Just a thought and I was impressed.

PS for those that know JB (that was his HK36 in photos) up our way he ceases
flying on Jan 5 (10 day to go) and he leaves for France on 10 I believe. The
ASK20mi and damaged Falke is to be put in container in that 5 days.

Attached some shots of the new addition to the Baker Family Fleet.

Only 3 previous owners and good hours left on the engine.
Duco needs a little touch up and a few minor repairs needed but looks good
otherwise.
Should look good when I'm finished.
    Whataya reckon?.
    It's not that bad really.

    Any other news, anyone?.

    Cheers.
    Nige.
