Not strange at all.
Diamond deny that it could leave the factory out of spec. I fixed all 3 of ours
and got them in spec. Rob can attest to the time and difficulty in achieving it
but we got there. I fitted a thin alloy cover to the hole on the rudder that
takes the light as adding the light put it out of spec. That is how close it
was. I added significant weight to correct it and the placement was critical to
get the desired results within total mass allowed. That was the hardest part.
So not unusual to me at all.
As to the records?. Well that’s Harry.
Nige.

Subject: [DOG mailing list] Mass balance or rudder

Been going thru logbook of WVW and notice Harry Basch recorded the mass
balance in log book when was put into service I Australia. What is in log
book is out of spec as in Maintaince manual and am now wondering if others are
our on spec. This is ex Thai airforce.

It has been flying for 10 years. A bit strange.
