Hi Gyozo, The plywood in the centre tunnel serves no structural purpose and was only there to help form the fibreglass at construction time. It can be removed if it is breaking up. If it is difficult to remove and is dropping down onto the elevator rod, just use a heap of sikaflex or similar. Massage the sikaflex all around the plywood and then stuff a ball of plastic in to hold the plywood up tight while the sikaflex is curing. Don't forget to remove the plastic!
