That is the problem.
We need a full description of what it is and how it is going to work,
possibly with a flow chart.
Any volunteers at Tucows like to write one?

The problem is going to be contacting the registrants as we know from
experience that 40% of them have invalid email addresses in the whois mainly
ue to changing email provider and not updating it or telling us through any
of our systems.

However, I am quite keen on redirecting the domains to a page with a renewal
message on it.
I have comer ound to this because with our web hosting business we used to
redirect to a "account suspended" page with no explanation.
Last week I added a link to a page with an explanation and a form to fill
out to enquire about the account.
We have had a few people renew who had no idea who hosted their site as it
had been arranged by a predecessor in their job.
Therefore something similar for domains would be beneficial.

My only concerns are:

1. There must be no direct link to our emergency renewal system or people
other than the registrant would be able to pay the renewal fee and think
they had bought the domain name.
Maybe a link to a contact page on our site which we can define in the RWI.

2. There should be no advertising on the page. I am sensitive to this after
Register.com were taken to court in a class action for advertising on
holding pages. The name of the company is fine but no advertising for third
parties.
