Hi, As most of you probably know, there are some changes going on at the moment with the Tucows client code projects. Grant wrote about it here: HYPERLINK "http://about.tucows.com/2007/05/08/a-new-direction-for-enablers-making-our- services-easier-to-sell/"http://about.tucows.com/2007/05/08/a-new-direction- for-enablers-making-our-services-easier-to-sell/ “Both RCL (Old Reseller Code Library) and CCS will be phased out. RCL hasn’t been updated in more than a year and will only remain until the new components are available. CCS will be repositioned as a Platypus only product as it has already been integrated with the Platypus web interfaces.” Tucows are moving forward with the Quick Code which looks a very promising direction. We’ve been helping clients get online with both the CCS and the RCL packages and have been working out how to deal with these changes. The Quick Code looks great but it’s designed to be plugged into an existing web site, rather than be the web site itself. Our clients are looking for something easy to set-up, customise and maintain – both for the ordering process and the site content. They also use a range of payment gateways not provided for through Platypus (PayPal/Google Checkout/PROTX etc). In this light we’ve decided to build a new framework which incorporates and builds upon the new Quick Code modules. Ideally we want something as easy to set up as WordPress or we may even develop all this as an actual WordPress plugin. Alternatively my programmers were itching to build this as a Ruby and Rails project. It’s a very powerful framework but I understand support is not as widespread as PHP. As we are building this for 8+ clients already, it makes sense to take the next step and release it publicly. If this project sounds interesting to you, I would really appreciate some feedback on the form below. We’ll be looking for beta testers and will consider giving out some free or heavily discounted licenses. HYPERLINK "http://www.ccs-demo.com/form/"http://www.ccs-demo.com/form/ I know most of the list veterans will already have their own frameworks in place – this project is aimed at those people coming new to Tucows. However we are also considering building in some of the bulk change/API functionality which might be useful to some (authcodes etc). At this point in the planning stage we’re looking for people to tell us what they want and what is important to them. We’ll add this to our existing client feedback and take it from there. Much appreciated, Nick CEO e3internet http://www.e3internet.com
