Hi all,

After reading the flurry of comments over the past couple of days here (whew!) there are a few different threads here that I'd like to tie together.

First, on pricing. There is a lot of value in our prices that tends to fly under the radar:

* With the introduction of "cost plus" pricing, our prices for TLDs like .NET and .ORG dropped a fair bit. Some folks believe our wholesale prices are higher than GoDaddy's retail prices; believe me, a .NET domain with WHOIS Privacy is much higher than our $7.98 fee. :) * WHOIS Privacy is free. This is something most other registrars charge significant prices for, and something many of our resellers are marking up with great success. * We don't charge a recurring yearly membership fee; the $95 paid up front is all you'll ever pay. Most other wholesale registrars charge a yearly fee. * Our ccTLD pricing is extremely competitive if not cheaper in most cases, and we're among the leaders in many extensions.

That said, email me at aeisner at tucows dot com before December 1 and I'll have your gTLD management fee knocked down from $3 to $2.25. This is aimed only at folks on this list, and it's not something we're going to make widely available. Consider it a 'thank you' for your community involvement, and a partial bribe to use the new forum. :)

Second, on innovation/differentiation. We've pioneered a lot of products and features recently that other registrars don't or can't offer. Things like an advanced name suggestion tool, premium domains and our Personal Names service are all cost-effective services we've introduced to help you stand out from the competition. I am more than happy to talk to you individually about how some of our resellers are using features like these to their advantage.

And finally, on the product mix: we've seen some significant interest in many of our new TLD/ccTLD launches over the past couple of years. Many pre-orders for .TEL are already rolling in, and our upcoming .TEL webinar is shaping up to be the most popular webinar we have ever conducted. Furthermore, our .MOBI sales are very strong. Regionally, we're one of the world's biggest registrars for .EU, and our .ME launch exceeded expectations. I think each of these has an interested, engaged target audience, and we're trying to get better at helping you reach those audiences.

One last thing -- EV certs were mentioned on the list, and this is something we do plan to roll out. Stay tuned for more details.

Cheers,

Adam
