Now, that is a word, I've already sent email to you. However, bear with me but I'm still hardly gonna make use of your new web forums. I've seldom used this forum for posting over the last years and I don't even read it daily. Sometimes I didn't read it for months. But each time you announce something or there's something going on in the domain industry I look here and most often find some background which helps me put it in perspective. I just open the folder and do a quick skim of the subjects and first lines (my reader shows me the first line instead of the subject of replies in a thread). Even when I have been absent for months that takes me only a minute. No way with a forum. With a list I don't have to care about anything, I don't have to go there, it comes to me, don't have to fetch articles, don't authenticate, don't battle latency, don't loose articles if the website goes down or is unreachable, I have threading and good quoting (at least from those who know how to quote correctly), I can use filters and can mark articles for keeping or attention. And I can do this even when I'm offline if I wanted to. All I have to assure from my side is that my email address keeps working. As others said, why should I go beyond this little step for the little participation I do? There are several good forum systems that can easily gateway to and from mailing lists. Why wasn't this sought out as an alternative at least?
