Seems like the Skunk did everything in Doobie tunes
except play the standard tunes themselves. He was always coming in with some
Broadway jingle in the middle of Black Water, and he and the band even broke
into Reelin' In The Years during, of all things, Don't Start Me To Talkin'
during the 77 tour. The Skunk used to take his solos into completely different
keys, too. He'd take a standard break and play, like 4 or 5 steps removed, and
somehow, it would sound really cool. To me, Skunk was like a firecracker that
was ready to blow; he was as unpredictable a force in the Doobs as they've ever
seen.
