Thanks for the answers all. I'd love it if you could put me in touch with
your guy Jerry, I'm kinda under the gun for a client project and while I
love doing this stuff myself, this might not be the right place to put the
time I've got left. Otherwise I'll give Eriks approach a shot.

Sidenote: even though I moved away from Portland a few years ago (just up
the road to Seattle) this list and its archive is still one of my go-to
sources. Makes me miss pdx.
